📐 Measurements :

  • Width: 125 cm
  • Height: 89 cm
  • Depth: 60 cm

🌿 Technical and artistic description :

  • Bombé structure : The undulating body, typical of the Louis XV style, curves gracefully towards the front and sides, creating a visual dance of volume and shadow.
  • Dreamy marquetry : Each surface is covered with exquisite marquetry in fine woods—rosewood, boxwood, and mahogany—forming floral and arabesque motifs that appear embroidered onto the wood. The design is symmetrical, refined, and executed with masterful craftsmanship.
  • Fire-gilded bronze : The moldings, handles, corner pieces, and brackets are finely crafted in fire-gilded bronze , with details of acanthus, rocaille, and garlands. These embellishments not only beautify but also protect high-wear areas such as edges and legs.
  • Top cover : The lid, also ornamented with marquetry, features a central medallion surrounded by garlands, framed by a design that accentuates its nobility and elegance.
  • Dream Drawers : The front houses three spacious drawers, perfectly integrated into the curved design, with original locks and period hardware.

🕰️ Origin and time period :
France, circa 1880. Piece attributable to Parisian workshops that revived the Louis XV style with highly precise cabinetmaking techniques.

🔍 State of conservation :
Excellent. Minimal restoration, respectful of the original materials. The varnish retains its deep shine, and the bronzes maintain their gilding without oxidation.

🎭 Symbolism and presence :
This bombé chair is not just a piece of furniture: it's a statement of taste, history, and refinement. Its presence transforms any space into a setting of nobility and artistry.
